Controlling permanent magnet synchronous electrical machines requires knowing the rotor position in relation to the stator. The rotor position can be estimated by the inverter control logic, but it is difficult especially in low-speed and high-torque situations. To improve the low-speed performance, an additional sensor called a resolver is used for measuring the rotor position. The resolver set up procedure for Danfoss EC-C1200 inverter with a permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) is described in detail in the EC-C1200 software user guide.
For physical wiring instructions for the resolver connection, see the EC-C1200 user manual or the wiring instructions article. Information about resolver sharing between inverters via the SYNC link can be found in the SYNC link wiring and Configuring resolver signal sharing (SYNC link) articles.
