- Required PowerUSER version: 9.12.0 or higher - Required inverter firmware version: 11.7.0 or higher |
Introduction
Starting from firmware version 11.7.0, the EC-C inverters allow the user to protect the inverter parameters from unintended or malicious changes by guarding the PowerUSER connection with a password. When the password protection is enabled in the inverter, connection with the inverter cannot be established without entering the correct password in PowerUSER first. Note that this does not affect basic functionality of the device, such as CAN bus messaging or running and controlling the inverter via the CAN or I/O connections.
For additional information about the feature, see the PowerUSER quick guide by clicking on the "?" button in the upper right corner of the PowerUSER interface. If you have lost or forgotten your password, contact the Editron service team for help.
How to use the password protection feature
Go to Passwords-tab in PowerUSER settings screen:
To enable the password protection for the connected device, click on "Protect the device with a password" and follow the instructions in PowerUSER carefully.
To connect to a device which has password protection enabled, click on "Enter a password to connect to the device" and input the password in the dialog box. Wait approximately 30 seconds for the connection to be initiated. If the connection is not working, check that the password is correct and try to set the password again.
You can use the "Remove protection from the device" button to remove the password protection from the device which you are connected to. In order to use this, you must have a functional connection established with the device, as password protection cannot be removed from a device without knowing the password.
Once the password protection is activated, none of the PowerUSER features such as changing parameters, recording signals with the scopes, checking and downloading the fault log, etc. cannot be used until the correct password is entered in the PowerUSER settings.
| Password protection of a device is not indicated in any way in the PowerUSER interface, so it can be confused with a non-working connection, wiring issues, etc. Care must be taken to notify and mark down which devices have been protected and what their respective passwords are. Note also the PowerUSER version requirement for using the password protection feature. |
